Man injured, law enforcement searching for suspect following hit-and-run in Lynchburg
13+ hour, 55+ min ago (161+ words) LYNCHBURG, Va. " Law enforcement is searching for a suspect following a hit-and-run that left one injured in Lynchburg on Friday, Lynchburg Police Department said. LPD said they responded to the 3900 block of Wards Road on Friday following reports of a hit-and-run with injuries. The preliminary investigation showed that, "during an altercation in the turning lane, a white Toyota van struck an individual standing outside of their vehicle and fled the scene." Authorities said the person who was hit by the van successfully transported themselves to a local emergency room to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Lynchburg police arrest suspects after shooting investigation and traffic stop

On Nov. 24, law enforcement began investigating a shooting into an occupied home at 520 Hillside Court involving 19-year-old Octavion Taylor and 18-year-old Amare Scruggs, both from Lynchburg. Authorities noted Taylor had two outstanding warrants at the time. The next day, officers spotted Taylor as a passenger in a vehicle on Timberlake Road. Given his firearm history, outstanding warrants, and the recent shooting, police conducted a high-risk stop in the 7400 block of Timberlake Road. During the stop, both Taylor and Scruggs were arrested, and two stolen handguns were seized from the vehicle. Taylor faces multiple charges, including probation violation, absconding probation, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of a stolen firearm. Free at-home grease recycling kits available through Dec. 31 in Lynchburg and Bedford County

The collected grease will then be recycled into environmentally friendly biofuel. Both organizations say one of the biggest problems in local sewer systems is the buildup of fats, oils, and grease in the pipes. When poured down the drain, this can cause blockages, leading to costly and unsafe overflows into backyards, forests, and streams.
