Creative duo launches nonprofit arts hub, ‘incubator’ in Virginia Beach’s ViBe district

"We developed this idea by listening to what the community asked for. Artists were looking for studio space. This is like an incubator for artists," co-founder Monica Turley said. "Also, we wanted a landing pad for the ViBe." Founded by artists Turley and Tessa Hall Duquette, the foundation was made possible through donors, grants and tax-deductible donations. Duquette said the family of artist Patricia Krekorian donated 19 boxes full of 300 original paintings to help fund a scholarship to support the foundation's children's programs. Norfolk radio visionary Bob Sinclair Sr., owner of Sinclair Communications, dies at 79

He named BOB-FM for his son, who is the third generation in the family business. Broadcasting titan Bob Sinclair Sr. shaped the world of radio in Hampton Roads. The longtime owner of Norfolk-based Sinclair Communications died on April 20 at 79. His son, Bob Sinclair Jr., and longtime employees carry on his legacy. "He loved the radio business," said Sinclair Jr., whose father named the station BOB-FM for his only son. Sinclair Sr. is credited for the company's growth from a single Norfolk station to five.
